Spires line the skyway

It's hard to pick a favorite site in Prague because there is so such to consider; it’s the “City of a Hundred Spires”, statues of Saints line the Charles Bridge, Old Town showcases the astronomical clock Orloj where, every hour between 9 am and 11 pm, the twelve apostles appear.

Old Town has many specialty stores, artists, and street vendors. (Of course, we had to try the Haluski and Sausage.)

One of my favorites, the Strahov Library (Strahov Monastery, Prague). It was over 800 years old; holding 16,000 books.

Not to be missed is the Changing of the Guard at the Prague Castle, the official office of the President of the Czech Republic.

Prague has several Crystal Factories that are fun to visit and watch them create vases and other crystal masterpieces.

It was easy to rent a car in Prague.  Remember to get an International Driving Permit from your local AAA office before you leave the United States.  We took a side trip to Poland in search of hand made pottery and then an unexpected trip to Dresden Germany (it was so close).

Not a favorite of mine but very popular amongst visitors is a small Roman Catholic chapel, located beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints, part of the former Sedlec Abbey in Sedlec. This ossuary is estimated to contain the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people, whose bones have, in many cases, been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel.

Czech Republic is truly a hidden gem.
